COVID-19 reintegration

Who?

Primary & Secondary school aged pupils with issues around reengagement including those with additional needs and SEN/D

Where?

Remote delivery via video conferencing, digital platforms and/or face to face (Local offer only).

Why?

To help teaching staff and tutors with transitioning disengaged or anxious pupils back into School during and post COVID-19

When?

6 week placements operating throughout the year.

What?

Short-term Individual Pupil Support Placements

How?

Establish a network between the child, parent/carer, tutor and the referrer. Launch Community Integration, Self-reflection & Education programmes. Provide daily, weekly and half-termly progress reports. We work alongside and on-board the practitioners to work with the children and young people.

Additional assessment criteria include: Attitude to School and Learning, Tolerance, Self-Awareness, Empathy, Self- Esteem/Confidence, Emotion/Moods and Anger Management, Communication, Makes the Right Choices, Receptiveness, Independence, Resilience, Self-Assurance and LAB Leadership

Community Integration

The objective is to empower the individual by identifying ‘positive things’ they’re doing. We empower the pupil through ‘leadership’ opportunities to develop their ‘work readiness’ and ‘independent’ skills. We use a variety of physical challenges (sports orientated) and mental challenges (board games and logic orientated games), plus home and community related tasks they can complete. We create a programme which can be delivered ‘face to face’ and remotely at their school, home and within the community.

This will include:

Learning and practicing responsible behaviour
Helping others and developing a ‘giving’ mentality
Improving their physical health and mental wellness
Developing a work readiness mindset
Embedding emotional self-regulation and emotional resilience processes.
Evidencing their learnt skills for future careers pathway moving on information within their EHCP and the Gatsby Benchmark criteria.

Self Reflection

The objective of the Self Reflection Programme is to help pupils across the vulnerability spectrum to self-assess and identify gaps in their personal development. We can deliver this programme face to face and remotely. They have a complete overview of their character skills, employability traits, virtual rewards and achievements they’ve gained daily. This enables the pupil to discuss any areas of concerns with their tutor allowing quick implementation of solutions. Subsequently, this enhances their understanding around behaviour affecting their learning outcomes.

This will include:

Self-reflection lessons highlighting personal achievements
Improving emotion/moods and anger management
Helping to embed a ‘work ready mindset’ by identifying gaps in their skills or capabilities
Helping to address areas of concern or poor behaviour and establish positive appropriate behaviour strategies
Helping the pupil to embed better reasoning and decision-making skills
Developing and embedding emotional self-regulation and emotional resilience

Education

Our Education Programme has helps pupils across the vulnerability spectrum improve their engagement, attitude and effort towards learning. We cultivate and develop a work readiness mindset, whilst reducing anxieties. We on board and work alongside teaching staff and independent tutors, using video and digital platforms including 50-50 LAB. We encourage the use of 50-50 LAB for the practitioners to adopt the engaging techniques and principles we use to engage the pupil delivered both ‘face to face’ and remotely.

Work for our tutors to complete with the pupil can include:

Maths books and/or worksheets
Literacy books and/or worksheets
Understanding and learning school and classroom basics
Developing positive attitudes towards learning
Mock exam and test papers.
